Hola, I'm Rocío.

Since you've made it this far, I'll tell you more about me. I'm a writer and a dreamer.  In order to do one, I need the other. Yet, I never dreamt of working in advertising. Surprisingly, when I look back on life, I realize there were signs that I would end up right here.

When I was a little girl, my Dad encouraged me to create characters for a makeshift talent show he hosted in our living room. It was then that I began "making" commercials for things around the house. One of items I advertised in our living room was a 1970s (now defunct) Mexican shoe brand called Canada. Yep, you read that right. A brand named Canada that was based in Mexico.

Notice the 'swoosh' is almost identical to the Nike iconic swoosh.

Legend has it that Phil Knight, co-founder of Nike, employed the help of the Canada brand to inspire the initial Nike shoe designs made for American football players.I don't know if that's true but in 2012, I ended up at Wieden + Kennedy. I felt like my life had gone full circle.  I never thought I would end up there but I decided to just do it.  What a trip!

Anyway, while I spent a lot of my childhood acting in front of my Dad's videocamera making shoe commercials, I spend most of my adulthood behind the camera writing scripts, taglines, social posts, and all other types of advertising stuff. Perhaps one day I'll get to work on a shoe brand that still exists today.

In the meantime, my favorite type of copy to write is clever. My favorite projects to work on are empowering.  My favorite word is calcetines which means "socks" in Spanish. I mean, who doesn't love socks? Amirite?

I have no problem presenting ideas, leaving my ego at home, taking credit for my hard work, and pushing myself to do better.  I want to be the best creative I can be. I also want to eat lots of peanut butter and grow up only a little. And always have fun.

What can I write for you?

Holler at me.
